SJBCA Meeting Notes Wed. May 19, 2010
BigNasty06
After a April hiatus, the SJBCA monthly 3rd Wednesday of every month reconvene last night over at the 4th Ward ClubHouse located down the road from Parvin SP.

Last night, I had the pleasure of attending the 4th meeting of the year of the SJBCA. Below you will find the SJBCA officers and Bass clubs in attendance.

Fred Lentz- President (South Jersey Hawg Hunters)
Joe Hoban- 1st Vice President (South Jersey Bass Stalkers)
Rob Kunze- 2nd Vice President (Cumberland County Bassmasters)
Gary Corliss- Treasurer (4th Ward Bass Anglers)
Al Franchetta- Secretary (Cumberland County BassMasters)
Steve Steinmetz- Tournament Director (Pine Cone Anglers)
Carmen Bersani- Director 1 (Happy Hooker Bassers)
Mike Graham- Director 2 (4th Ward Bass Anglers)

There were 15 Clubs in attendance.

Chris Smith of the Oak Pond NJDFW, was suppose to be our Guest speaker in attendance, however he had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. Chris is planning on attending at the Next SJBCA meeting scheduled for Wed. July 21, 2010 at 6pm Thundergast Picnic area.

Officers Report:
* Al Franchetta requested Club rosters to be submitted ASAP
* Report on Sportsmen's Jamboree- Oct. 2-3, 2010

* SJBCA Annual BBQ in July 21, 2010.

* Tresurer Report: Balance $3,083.00
which reflects decrease of Beginning Balance $3,383.00.

* Tournament Director: Need for Volunteers SJBCA June Buddy Tournament on Union Lake, Sunday, June 20, 2010

* 1st Vice President: Joe Hoban is offering a $10 50/50 Raffle to be drawn on Wed. Sept. 15, 2010. Proceeds goes toward supporting SJBCA functions\events. Last year, BigFred won the prize of $500.00

Committee Reports:

Scholarship Committee:
Carmen Bersani , MaryAnne Franchetta, and Greg Lentz. The Deadline for potential candidates was May 01, 2010 with a Decision of awardee by June 01, 2010. Unfortunately, only 1 person submitted a scholarship application and it did not meet the qualificaton for recieving this years $500.00 award. Future steps will be discussed in getting the word out to Member clubs, local High Schools, Universities, and possible Guidance counselors. The criteria for selection may also be re-worked to allow for a more broader discipline of study (Major) to take into consideration.

Flea Market Committee: Carmen Bersnai, Joe Hoban, Al Franchetta, MaryAnne Franchetta, & Steve Steinmetz.
* Date reserved for March 05, 2011 at Millvile Elks location.

------------------------------------------------------

Next Meeting:
* 6pm, Wenesday, July 21, 2010 at the Thundergast Picnic area next to Parvins State Park. Some of the items on the agenda will be:
* Success of the June Buddy Tournament
* Initial Planning for Sportsmen's Jamboree
* Continue planning for the SJ Outdoor Youth Day
------------------------------------------------

So in summary and important dates to remember:

* 2 New SJBCA Member Bass Clubs were voted on and accepted.
* Sunday, June 20, 2010 SJBCA Union Lake Open Buddy Tournament.
* Update from Bob Russell (4th Ward Bass Anglers) that Lee Widjeskog hands are tied with the Lake Audrey Boat Ramp\resurfacing project due to the State of NJ not having any funds. At last check, construction was suppose to start sometime in Mid April 2010 but everything is kind of on all hold till the New Budget passes. We were also informed that the New Salem Canal Boat ramp access and parking is in the hands of Dupont but depending on who you talk with, the name blaming game is alive and vibrant. Stay tuned!!

* SJBCA member clubs that fish the close season have run into situations where some Youth Outdoors Kids Fishing organization have been conflicting with SJBCA clubs fishing the same bodies of water at the same time. BRRC had this occur 2 weeks in row (i.e. Davis Mill Pond and the following week at Stone Tavern). The Stone Tavern incident was sponsored by 5Alive however due to bad weather, that kids event was unbeknown move to the same weekend that BRRC was to be there. The conflict was cleared up but if one knows in advance that a kids club\organization is trying to fish the same location as say "SJHT" then please let me know or SJBCA.
------------------------------------------
Since our guest speaker could not make it, this was fairly a quick meeting. Meeting was adjourned around 9:15pm

Tightlines,
