What can one say? This place has them. The variety that is and the occasional "Fat Kitty Cats".
Welcome to round #14 of the SJHT 2021 season where 10 members came out to battle down on the CONOWINGO RES.
The bite was hot and heavy early on and still throughout the entire day. One had to venture to the dirtiest of waters to somewhat find them.....while shaking off or catching some mighty aggressive CatFish. Today's festivties was good fun. Just when you thought you had the place figured out, Conowingo Res. shows you another side of her. We were fortunate to have no Open Flood gates during our tournament, however as we wrapped things up.....around 2:30pm, we heard the "SIRENS" going off warning of the Gates opening to release water from the expectant rain from the Northern Towns along the Susky. Fast forward and we have the below results.
Please give a big congrats to overall 1st place winner and Lunker Winner, Rob *Ram1212* Masterson on eeking out the win by weighing in 3 Bass going 5.37lbs . Summary: CONOWINGO RES. greeted us with an updated debris restraint system which prohibits the build up of wood and the like from the Glen Cove Marina Boat Launch area and minimized the floating debris while exiting that Cove. Thanks Sue and Butch for installing this system and not increasing your launch fees. This is duly noted. What was already a very nice arrangement continues to be. Kudos to your organization and offering hospitality.
Back to the summary...... Fishing the CONOWINGO Res. was really fun today. Not only did all 10 Members catch at least 1 Bass, but degree\and areas where they were found made one revise previous strategies and possibly Game plans during today's event. Bass was on wood but a bit outward from those locations. Water Clarity and some slightly moving water also played a role in hooking up today. The CONOWINGO Res. even with the slight increase in water levels didn't produce the Big girls but they fought like they had jumped bail. LOL.
All of the Bass caught appeared very healthy and solid. I had 2 keepers within the 1st hour and a half. of the Tournament while keeping active with some small panfish pickups. Anglers reported losing some nice size bass next to the boat. Some spitting the hooks while others just didn't have a good hook set.
In All, all 10 out of 10 SJHT Anglers caught at least 1 Bass. There were 24 Bass caught overall. 14 Smallmouths and 10 Largemouth Bass. CONOWINGO RES. Bass gave way to total of 36.15lbs caught overall. CONOWINGO RES. avg. weight was 1.51lbs.
An outstanding 7 Anglers caught there 3 Bass Limit.
Congrats to Rob Masterson, BN06, Mike Del Monico, and Brian on your performances.
