---------------------------------------------- Welcome to our SJHT 12th event of the 2023 Season where SJHT anglers traveled back down to old stomping grounds A.K.A. Dod. familiar water ways. The bayo A.K.A. DoD Lake.
PSA: Not sure how long a Tree\Overgrowth has been blocking access to (2) of the Major navigatable water ponds, but one or team of anglers will need a Hand saw or Chain Saw to remove this major Blockage as access is blocked by something simple as bringing tools to cut\remove the blockage. See Video and Pics. Come on Fellas....We can do Better! Lets talks and communicate when we see stuff like this. Okay...my Rant is over!
Let's get to it.
On Saturday, 11 of SJHT Die-Hards came out to see what DoD had to offer up.
Unfortunately, the bite was tough once again with cookie cutter size Bass being caught. Some including myself not even getting a niblle till 2hrs into the event.
Without further adieu, please give a big congrats for this weeks 1st place winner Mike *Why leave Bass to find Bass* Del Monico with 3 Bass going 6.27lbs 2nd Place and Lunker as won by Rob *No Miscelleneous for Me* Masterson with 3 bass going 4.33lbs after a .50lb Dead Bass penalty. Summary: So this being my first time back on the water in nearly 3 weeks, I was presently surprised at how the slow down\routine of not fishing have on our bodies....especially as we get older. DoD has always been hit or miss for me. Someone always figures them out and judging by the Tale of Tape, one can see which anglers were able to catch them but the Cookie cutter size somewhat worries me. Anglers reported catching multiple 11.5'~11.75" size Bass. There were no GIANTS caught today. Lacking access to the 2 ponds navigating between the 2 Islands in the Back also dampered some hopes of catching my limit and possibly a bigger Bass. Out of 11 Anglers, there were only 17 Bass caught....giving way to 22.37lbs . The avg. weight was only 1.32lbs. per Bass. Is this the New Norm?
GEESH!
Overall.... 4 anglers caught there 3 Bass Limit. 7 out of 11 caught at least 1 Bass.
Congrats to Mike Del Monico, Rob Masterson, Bill Leach, and BN06 on your performances.
