Welcome to our SJHT 14th event of the 2023 Season where lately it's been feast or famine. Newton earlier on was on fire. Today...not so much. There were plenty of bites...but the right bite is what everyone was hoping for.
This event represented our Annual Club's Tag Team Event where members names are drawn morning of and there paired with another random angler. Anglers still fish against one another for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, Lunker, and Misc. Pots, but their combine weights are added together to determine this year's SJHT Tag Team Champs.
[b]Let's get to it.
On Saturday, 11 of SJHT finest and 1 guest came out to Newton Lake to battle for the Tag Team Belts.

Summary: Newton Lake Boat Ramp still somewhat sucks even after the fix.
Backing in is one thing. Pulling out....expect a little more time needed as the bottome is not level or sinks severly to one side. Anyways, this was my first time this year visiting Newton Lake. I can say that I wasn't too impressed. Seems like the Lilly pads and areas where there were more drop offs were still somewhat shallow. I guess...what do I expect out of a South Jersey pond right?
Out of 12 Anglers, there were only 21 Bass caught....giving way to 36.79lbs . The avg. weight was 1,75lbs. per Bass. Newton Lake normally produces multiple 3~4+lber Bass. Today was fun but a little frustrating trying to sift through the smaller Bass and just trying to get a bite. I didn't get my first nibble until 1.5hrs into the event. Hence those that went Left of the Boat Ramp seem to have gotten on them earlier. These are some nuggets for ya. LOL.
Overall.... 4 anglers caught there 3 Bass Limit. 10 out of 12 caught at least 1 Bass.
Congrats to Dennis Tolentino, Jackson Fu, Pete Ingemi, and David Snedeker on your perforrmances.

Shout out to Team Mike Pilles and Steve Albrecht in coming to the rescue of that Kayaker with Sail fin when it flipped over and became stuck in soft Sediment. That angler was hanging on sideways trying to right his vessel. You guys Rock! and Thanks for lending Help! Right Place..Right Time!
No telling the outcome of that guy if his body got stuck in the soft mud/silt we all know too well.
Thanks again Mike and Steve.
