Very Warm and humid morning start with air Temps around 76 degrees. Warming up to a scorching 94 degrees making it feel like 100 Degrees....even in the shad. Water Temps: 87.5 degrees rising to 90.5 Water Clarity: 1.5'~2.0' Wind Gust: 5-10 MPHs Best Lure: crankbaits, Finesse Jigs, and creature type baits. Depths fished: 2.5'~4.5' Limit: 3 Bass ---------------------------------------------- Yeah...this type of Day! Welcome to round #10 of the SJHT 2021 season where 14 members came out to Tag Team at the CANAL. The Canal with the elevated water temps and no true pattern with bass being caught on wood or near laydowns was brutally tough on this day. Anglers reported some some sub par 12"ers caught (including myself) but for the most part a small number of sub 12" fish were caught. Half of the field with right of the Boat ramp while the other half went towards Hawks Bridge overpass. Today, the 2021 SJHT Club Tag Team Belts were on the line. Without further adieu, please give a big congrats to overall 1st place winner Tom Greene on his winning bag and Lunker weighing in 3 Bass going 8.62lbs. Tom's Lunker went an impressive 4.96lbs. *2nd Place was won by Brian SubFish* McCulley with 3 Bass going 7.34lbs. 3rd Place was won by Bill Troop Carione with 3 Bass going 5.77lbs.. Misc. was won by Bill The Hammer Leach with a Huge SNAKEHEAD going 4.38lbs. The overall 2021 SJHT SALEM CANAL Tag Team Championship Belts goes to the team of Bill Troop Carione and Brian McCulley. SALEM CANAL, TALE OF TAPE: Tom's 1st Place and Lunker Winner: Brian's 2nd Place bag: Troops 3rd Place winner: Bill Leaches Misc. Snakehead Winner: Other Anglers Bass: Jiggen Den's Bag: Mike Leaches bass: BN06 Keeper: Sub 12"er caught in the mix: Trapper's Keeper: John Parisi Keeper: Other SnakeHeads caught: Scene at weigh-in: 2021 SJHT Salem Canal Tag Team Champs: Summary: SALEM CANAL was a Scorcher!! Air Temps were in the Mid 90's. Water Temps reached 90.2 Degrees in certain areas. There was barely a breeze or cloud to aid us in catching more bass. Heck...The Canal felt like being in the Mohave Desert. A portion of the members barely got a nimble, while some were able to cull later in the day. The water level seems avg...with maybe 2 farmers drawing water. Didn't get first bite till 2hrs into the event. That was the dink pictured above. Lone keeper didn't come till about 9:30am. In All, all 10 out of 14 SJHT Anglers caught at least 1 Bass. There were 20 Bass caught overall. The SALEM CANAL Bass gave way to total of 36.57lbs caught overall. The CANAL avg. weight was 1.83lbs. 5 Anglers caught there 3 Bass Limit. Another decent turnout on a Hot and Steamy Day. Congrats to Tom G., Brian M., Bill L. and this years 2021 SJHT Tag Team Champs Troop and Brian M. on your performances.
