Congrats to this year's 2025 SJHT Union Lake Open Bass Buddy Tournament Winners. (Front L to R): 2nd Place Winners Greg & Andrea Zinni; 1st Place Team Josh & Jay Burger; 3rd Place Team Howard Brown & Jeff Davis
After a long and brutal winter off season, I know many of you are eager to get back out on the water and challenge Bass Hoppers 2009 AOY crown!!! Word on the street is that he's been sleeping at the ramp to assure himself of virgin waters!!!
Typically, the 1st official club tournament of the season draws the most anglers at any one time (outside of the end of the season bass classic). This is a good thing. I just would like to remind everyone to be somewhat quiet (noise wise) when launching there boats and be mindful of the local residential homes around Davis Mills Pond.
Everyone should be within 25 yards of the boat ramp right before the start of the tournament (not to give any unfair advantage to those slightly drifting away from everybody else). Jay (VP), Moe (Tourney Director), and Jimbo (temp weighmaster) will coordinate the final weigh-in activities.
Oh I almost forgot to mention, that due to a Great-grandmother's passing, I will not even be able to kick-off the morning launch as I've done in years pass. Those arrangements run from 8am througout the morning...so I can't even sneak out beforehand.
I will be bringing the Dunkin doughnuts and box of JO at the next Parvin SP Club Tournament.
What else.? Temperatures are expected to rise near 70 Degrees...so dress accordingly. Be respectful when passing and navigating around other anglers fishing certain points, coves, and stretches of shore areas. If unsure, kindly ask "Would he\she mind if you cut in a certain area". Don't wait till the end of the Tournament.
Parking: Like last year will be tight. Try to park as close as possible off the roadway (with your rigs\trailers) up on the grass or adjacent to the boat ramp. Since we're all together, parking almost bumper to bumper should be taken advantage. Unless you are last angler launching your boat, one should not park directly across the street (in front of the boat ramp) as that causes turning radius difficulties when trying to reposition oneself to retrieve there boats from the water.
Be very careful as to the traffic coming around the curve. By starting at 8am, hopefully having sufficient sun-light should not be a problem. If one arrives early, make sure your livewell is checked and then put your boat into the water. No need to bottle neck the ramp. I believe that is it!
Good luck to everyone and I can't wait to see the pics, reports, and the weights brought to the scales!
