Well....well... well! Momma told me it would be days like this. After waking up early Saturday morning and removing the boat cover, I knew it was going to be a crap shoot with the weather. When I went to bed, there was a 50% chance of rain and then it was down graded to 30% with possible strong showers and winds throughout the morning. Is this Dejavu all over again from the previous week?
Well that never happen. That may have led to our smallest turnout of the season. Without further adieu, here is this weeks SJHT Assunpink Lake report.
Picking up from his 1st win at the season opener at Davis Mill Pond, Hal *The Punisher* B. was able to notch his 2nd victory of the season and lunker pot with 1 Bass going 2.93lbs. 2nd place was won by rookie member Rob "Ram1212" M. with 1 Bass going 2.27lbs. Last and definitely not least, Jimbo was only the 3rd angler to weigh in a legal size 15" Bass going 1.91lbs!!! Congratulation guys on somewhat figuring them out!!!

Rob's 2nd place Bass:

Tale of the Tape:
I can now see why some stayed home in bed!!! :-<
For me, the day started out tossing a smoke\chrome Rattletrap in about 5-7ft of water opposite side the boat launch. Not getting any love or hits with the overcast skys, I then began tossing creature baits in the form of blk\blue grubs and wacky rigg GY worms. As i began getting little taps, more out in the middle, I then switched up and began to DS a bit. Once I determined the bass were relating to a more specific grass type, I started catch dinks after dinks along with some huge arse pickeral thrown in. Other members were also having problems catching a legal size Assunpink bass. There were many 14", 13.5", and even 14.75" caught but damn only 3 brought to the scales. This place in the Spring and even during the fall can be pretty good. I guess the heavy rains, higher water lines, and grassbeds made it somewhat tough for us to figure out.
I can now say again, Assunpink Lake kick our arse once again!!!
Big ups to Hal on his second victory on the season and rookie member Rob on finally finishing in the $$$. I see your work man and your points race standings!!! Way to go men!!
Comments, suggestions, and replys are welcome to this report because it definitely left us scratching our heads!! and I'm not talking about the one below!!
