Bob,
Did we really start at 7:15amish at Union Lake? If so, my apologies. I recall putting in around 10mins to 7am. I thought we started around 7:05amish and by extending the tournament to 2pm didn't really see the harm with being a couple of minutes late.
I too enjoy putting in early and ahead of everyone else, but with certain duties and responsibilities, I don't mind being the last one to put in. As Tournament Director, Jiggen Den is only doing what he suppose to do.
Going forward, as club members and as officers of the club, Jiggen, Jay\John, and myself will try to do a better job. For those unaware, we do not intentionally wait for those members running late. That even goes for me. If I'm not there by a certain time or even at all, the show must go on hence each of the officers having the appropriate back-up Tournament paperwork and the like.
All have made great points and suggestions. As the sun starts to rise earlier in the AM and we begin to fish around the 5:30am or 6am start times, it becomes even more important not to be on the water, but ready to possibly take advantage of that earlier bite.
Note: I really appreciate members helping members both launching and loading up at the end of the day. No matter how small or unimportant it may seem, trust me, it goes a long way in Good Will of not just oneself but representative of our Club.
I see both points, but in my opinion it doesn't matter if the whistle blows on time or 15 minutes late, we should all be starting from the same general point. No excuses.
I was a bit later than usual on Sunday but I'm early most times so understand both point of views.
Sounds good, I wasn't trying to offend or dig at anyone I was just stating a fact. Its come to be the norm since I joined years ago that there is always a few stragglers and we start every tournament late. But when is come to a case when someone is helping others then absolutely we wait. Kyle was awesome at Malaga and helped many of us get through the mud. I would have waited an hour to start for all he did.
Winning that day for him was definitely good karma
Ok now that I've read all your much appreciated responses, here is what I propose. From this point forward if our start time is 6;30 we start fishing at 6:30, 7:00 we start at 7:00! This was an issue last year, which I brought up, and it's time we hold to it. If your late, it is your responsibility to find myself, Jay, BN or other member to check you livewell before you start to fish. It may not be to you liking, but your late and this is the consequences! Your money can also be handed over to any of the above officers. On launching early that is all well and good, but would like various members to help out at the ramp every now and then. I am not the earliest arrival by no means but I try and help get who I can in the water so we can start at our designated time. If Jay or BN are late I have to step up and help with collecting monies and so forth. I see Bob's point, so if we ALL step up to the plate, we can keep this club rolling smooth as it always has with just some minor glitches in the past. As for those who drift and drift, just stay closer to the ramp, and I don't mean blocking it. Some lakes we fish are narrow, some are wide open, use your best judgement on where you are. There are some lakes that we can even tie off to shore to keep the congestion to a minimum. Also if your extra early Please have someone check you live well before you launch! Thanks again for all your input.
