I started the day looking for shallow wood hoping for a quick bite. Threw some reaction baits for 15 mins with no success. My first fish was a 3lbder off some shallow brush. A few yards down the bank I found some deeper wood and got bit by a huge fish. It ran deep first and than went shallow and started wrapping around all the wood. I chased it for a min and it finally got snagged. I tried to let it play itself free but it broke off. I think I cried a little. Ive caught some big fish and this one fought harder than any Ive encountered. I never saw it, may not have even been a bass, but thats fishing... Second fish came a short while later. 3rd fish not long after that. I was culling by 7:30 but not by much. Spent the rest of the day looking for another big one but never happened. Caught a good amount of keepers and a couple shorts, but nothing worth while until with 15 mins left I made my last cast and hooked into the best fish of the day...Mr. Crappie
Thanks for sharing your day on the water. I'm always curious as to whether guys get early or late bites as that somewhat helps down the road with other tournaments and as conditions may change.
Those anglers that lost\broke off some good, I bet 9 times out of 10, you were probably not expecting that to happen....especially coming from our little South Jersey puddles. It amazes me with the surprise and pull of these out of state Bass compared to what we're use to.
This leads me to my next thoughts and possible proposals....which I'll start in a new thread. In a nutshell, "Where does SJHT foresee themselves in the future".
More to come.....and keep the day on the water coming.
Thanks,
