Could we do this for the squan t? That's a big body of water, kind of a wild card for Sj folk, t can be won through multiple patterns etc...

I second Dans vote for Manasquan. Let's also NOT make it a random draw. The only way I'd be ok with a random draw is if it's NOT a points tx. If it's a normal point tx we should each weight our 3 fish and then combine the weight to make a 6 fish bag. If we did a non points tx then let's make it a 5 fish combined limit. Just my $0.02. |

Pretty sure when we have had the tag team during a points event we count the weight of all 6 fish. We would weigh separate and then just add the totals.
Last year was the first non-point tag team, don't remember the rules.

Okay, now that this has simmered for the moment, I see that some are for a random Draw style Tag Team event...while others are a bit hestitant. Some would like to fish a different body of water other than Cooper and\or Stone Tavern. I can somewhat understand that. Some have mentioned the Squan as an alternative.
Remember, in the past we've counted the Teams 6 total fish weight (as the deciding factor regarding the champion) and also counted there best 3 Bass individually for Point Standings. Nothing has really changed in that aspect.
Outside of the location, it sounds to me many wouldn't mind fishing from say their own boats\vessels and then counting\weighing as a team there own weights with whomever they're paired up with at the very end? Am I somewhat on the right track? Now is the time to voice your opinion.
Regarding the location and timing of this event, I like the idea of a place really never fished before but when bodies of water like Nockamixon, Spruce Run, Marsh Creek State Park, and the Like come up, I know some shutter at the idea of fishing over in PA when we've ventured to places like the Delaware and Maryland. Just some food for thought in considering NEW Bodies of water or rarely known places.
As I look at the remaining schedule, the weekend of September 12th/13th could possibly be open to fish a NEWER\Unknown body of water. The weekend of the August 14th, 15th, & 16th is the Elite series on the NorthEast River MD. Hence the reason in planning the 2015 season, we left that date OPEN. So that leaves us with the tournaments already proposed earlier in this thread or going out on a limb and venturing outside of our typical comfort zone here in State or Out of state in PA.
Regarding the Manasquan Tournament, that too is doable, however I know I will not be there. Last weekend of AAU B-Ball Tournaments. That doesn't mean the show could not still go on though.
Note: The Tag Team event is meant for the SJHT members and it's really what you guys\gals make of it. Looking at both sides of the spectrum (boater vs. Rider partnership), I can see the Likes and Dislikes. Having done this outside of the normal point standings in 2014, there really was no pressure on anglers to really be fishing for standings in positions. The intent is still the same regardless if during the regular club season point standings, but I believe we can be flexible.
The bottom line is this. The Team concept I still believe should remain. Whether fishing from a Team boat or an individuals, I believe we can make this work. The Draw factor could still be interesting in the fact that anglers must still carry there own weight and hopefully contribute to there teams total weight and victory. As our 2015 Union Lake Open Buddy Tournament approaches and the Belts have to be dropped off, I really would like to have a time\place selected by this Friday, June 12th. I really appreciate your inputs and I do know that no matter what location\date we finally choose, everyone will not be happy or can make it. That goes for me too. The show must go on either way.
Thanks again,

Heres my thoughts on the matter
1. BN shall not miss the tag team event, BN shall be present
2. Sepetember 12th and or 13th should be the date (this eliminates the pressure of earning points during the performance, and motivates members strictly for the belts and to have fun)
3. Merill Creek shall be the destination, its a fantastic and beautiful fishery that SJHT has never ventured to, and I think everyone would love it. And being that its a Tag Team event, this also gives members the chance to possibly carpool with eachother and split gas costs. (Its really not that far though) Yes its a bit farther than other lakes but so what? You have a chance of catching a 6lb smallmouth or a 7lb largemouth in the same day, to me its worth the drive
4. I'm still for the random draw format.

Im ok with all of this except the random draw and 9/13. I think the members who fish with a partner all year on their boat should be able to fish together for the tag team event. Teams like Bill & Janine and Jay & John are the ones that come to mind.
I suggest have a choice, either be entered into the random pool or pick your partner. If this is a non points I am ok with either, but I think existing teams/partners should be considered.
Sept 13 is opening day for NFL and I will not be fishing so hope we can do a Sat but as BN said, show must go on if not everyone can make it.

It would also be cool for previous year champions to defend their titles. |

Latest update: We're going to use the Cooper River Park Tournament as our 2015 Tag Team Event.
This will be the format:
* There will be a random draw for pairing teams.
* Anglers that typically fish from the same boat at all\most of the Tournaments can choose to fish together. (i.e. Jay\John; Bill\Janeen; Joe R.\Gary K.; etc.)
* The defending 2014 Tag Team champs can fish (Kyle & White Mike) together from the same boat or separately from there vessel.
* Anglers fishing fishing from the same boat or separately, there total Bass catch and total weights will count as one for the Highest weight total, however your 3 Bass Limit weight will still count individually and for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place points. The Lunker weight and payout will still be the norm.
If I have forgotten something or need to explain in more detail, please speak up.
Pairing Selection will\should be done by say our Salem Canal Tournament (If not sooner).

Do we have to fish out of one boat, or can the paired team fish from there own boat and just combine there weight at the end? Just wondering?

Thanks BN, I thought I would save you the time of posting the teams.
Den, it is choice...either from your boat solo OR one boat together. |
