Super Admin Posts: 2177 Joined: 09.11.09	Place: Newton Creek Watershed Association 143 Ormond Ave. Haddon, NJ Time: Tuesday, 11-14-2017 7pm-8:45pm # in Attendence: 16 Group Moderator: Lorraine Prince (NCWA) & Fred (Delaware River Keeper Network) ------------------------------------------ Issue: Discussion of Upcoming Dredging of Newton Lake from the Cuthbert Blvd. area down to the Black Horse Pike. * Presently the Engineers that did the work at Cooper River Park, is doing what is called a "Lake Characterization Report\Analysis" where samples of the sediment are being taken to evaluate the depth of pollution\toxicity in which they may need to remove. * The Goal is to dig down to 4'~6' however depending on how much silt\pollution is in specfic areas, this will vary depending on where these samples are taken. * NCWA owns the land around Newton lake. * Goal to move 280K Cubic Yards of sediment and truck out......whereas the Cooper River had a pipeline built to the treatment facility plant in Cherry Hill. * The DEP requires permits "MS4" for work to be authorized\begun especially dealing with WildLife Cycles. * FFX Browne is the Engineering Firm hired to assess the initial analysis. * Project will last till 2019 * NCWA will be requesting a scope of work from the Camden County CCMUA regarding the work currently being done, What they're being paid to do now. This info. should be in the RFP but it should also be on file. Questions Raised: Is there a De-Watering\Sediment Refill Plan? Request to Maggie McCann at CCMUA to recieve the report and RFP is to be made from a person with the NCWA. Ms. Lorraine Prince wanted me to forward her the flooding pics from this past March 2017 of Newton Lake that I had previously posted on our site. Note: This tournament was moved at the last minute to Cooper River Park where everybody skunked. Remember. LOL!! They have a Facebook Group and encourage all interested anglers, outdoorsmen, and stakeholders to Like, Follow, and Help with information and seeing that all concerns are addressed. Including the Parking lot situation where Flooding has repeatedly occurred. I'll post some pics of some of the images they had regarding problem areas of Newton Lake and the run off situation.
