Welcome to SJHT's 15th Annual Union Lake Open Buddy Tournament. On a day where the weather was forcasted to be steaming Hot, High Humidty, and Clear Blue Bird skys 19 Boats, a total of 35 Anglers came out to win the some of the Limited Edition and the ORIGINAL SJHT Belts!!!
This leads me to the overwhelming response and participation in Saturdays, June 30, 2018 event.
What can I say men and women? Because of you and your desire to compete and come out on a 4th of July Holiday weekend and partake in our 15th straight Union Lake Open Buddy T., we THANK YOU.
To the SJHT members that fished this event... Dave S., Carlos, and Jiggen Den, along with Brian M. on the livewell checks and on the water oversight, Bill "Trooper" C. on the Grill and at the weigh-in Table and Jiggen Den recording each teams bag. I personally Thank you for easing the load and making things run as smoothly as they were.

Let's give a big congrats to this years 2018 New SJHT 15th Annual Union Lake Open Buddy Tournament finishers.
1st Place and Lunker winner Team of Grady Massie & James Hawk- 5 Bass weighing 15.49lbs $532.00 & $190.00 Lunker went 4.94lbs
2nd Place Team Troy Polhamus 5 Bass weighing 15.16lbs minus .50lb Dead Bass penalty $319.20 Lunker went 4.54lbs
3rd Place Team of Mike Copley & Joe Hawk with 5 Bass weighing 13.42lbs $212.80 Lunker went 3.65lbs.

In Summary: 9 out of 19 Boaters caught at least 1 Bass and weighed in. There were a total of 37 overall Bass weighed-in totaling 86.15lbs. That gave way to an avg. of 2.33lbs. There were 33 Largemouth Bass weighed in and 4 Smallmouth Bass weighed in. As one can surmise by the Tale of the Tape, there was a total of 4 Limits brought to the scales. There were a number of anglers that had caught Bass but through back after hearing the earlier weights already weighed in. We had 2 bass die however a good number were saved and rehabilitated in our SJHT High Efficency Output 100 Gallon Oxgenated Holding Tanks with Keep Alive. On a very hot day, this was deemed as very successful.
Anglers reported losing some nice Bass close to the boat as they tried to haul in. Some anglers caught them in there normal Summer hang outs and reported limits by 8am. The total caught this year compared to last year was a decrease by 33 bass overall. This was due to 10 less Teams/Anglers entered into the tournament. Last year, there were 8 Limits brought to the scales. Last year, the bass avg. weights were 2.04lbs. This year the weights and sizes were up an avg. of .29lbs more.
This year the title actually came down to a dead Bass weight penalty. A long time participant missed out on the belts with a .50lb penalty. Thus clinching his multiple 2nd place finish.
Congrats to the prize winners and all that came out and supported the [b]15th annual SJHT Bass Fishing Club Union Lake Open Buddy Tournament.
Thanks again to all who came out on this 4th of July weekend event. I know you could have been in a million and one other places but we're just appreciative to all who showed the love.

Hats off to our President BN for all the effort and HARD work you put into everything you do for all Bass fishing events! You always go all out to make things pleasurable to all that participate. I think next year we should just rent BN a U-Haul truck !LOL!!
