2012 SJHT Bass Bowl Team:
Still recovering from a tough, fun weekend getaway, and popping my cherry at Lake Hopatcong, NJ. I'm somewhat still half asleep as I type this.
More information\updates\Day on the water (i.e. to include our practice session) will follow throughout the day...as I find time to update this report.
First off, I would like to congrat the SJHT members for taking 4th place out of the 12 possible entered teams. This is one of our better finishes. I wish that Bill and I were able to contribute a bit more to the teams success but it was definitely tough and different fishing then what we are accustom to. Thanks Jimbo for booking the living quarters, picking the restaurant, and for assisting in the Pre-Game festivities\coordinatiion. The restaurant was a good pick and very reasonable.
I don't know the total official Weights\# of Fish caught, but Riverside took 1st place; Top Rod BassMasters took 2nd; 3rd Place ???; South Jersey Hook This took 4th; and 1st time ever entered- South Jersey Kayak Bass Fishing Club took 5th Place. Yes....a Kayak club fished and caught fish. Congrats to Layne and his Kayak members.
Pictures and more Day on the water information will be updated throughout the day\evening.
Thanks again to Team Jimbo and Jay; Team Rob and Kerry; and my partner Bill L.
I definitely wouldn't mind re-visiting this place in the Spring.
Surprise....Surprise.....

Lake Hopatcong is an awesome body of water. Too many docks to count, numerous humps, bumps, and grass to flip and pitch to. Coves and Marinas located both North, South, East, and West. I can see the attraction in this place. Too bad it's like 2.5hrs away but still doable. Hoping to develop a quick and easy pattern, Me and Bill hit a SouthWestern cove where I caught my 1st Practice Day keeper not even 25 minutes in. We proceeded to work this area but couldn't get no other bites. Wanting to see as much of this place as we could, we ran pretty much any and everywhere we could. Due to the No-Wake zones, thick grass, and Rock fields, we had to navigate very carefully. We ran into many familiar faces and exchange some small talk. The consensus was that others were also struggling with figuring out a definitive pattern.
Although we had some picks up during the actual event, between the wind and grass, it may it somewhat difficult to detect little nibbles.
By Mid Day, we focused on areas where the grass field and deeper water transition into a bittler non-cluttered waters. When I last looked around, it was 2:50pm.
With nothing in the boat, we headed in and conversed with other anglers on there day on the water

Nice finish guys! Hey, 4th place is not bad at all! Some of our members were new to this body of water correct?? Can't wait to see some pictures! I'am proud of our clubs efforts and finish!
Thanks Jackson & Den, congrats to the RBC guys as well. Very impresive bag considering what the other 12 clubs turned in for the day.
