Ladies and gentlemen, this is really what it's all about!!! Taking off from school, spending the day on the NorthEast, MD Flats, and outfishing nearly every angler in the TBF and SJHT. Where should I start? What a great day to be out on the water amongst your friends and performing a Ray-Lewis dance on the back of Noijjis I mean "Dads' boat!!! Fricking Priceless!!
Playing bumper boat once again

SJHT members ran into this sight as some of us turned the corner running towards Furnace Bay.
Well not to be denied, many of us actually stopped in coves before hitting the bigger areas. Fishing the NorthEast Flats is always a special Welcome to the NJ Bass Fishing closed season boys and girls. Another awesome turnout for the SJHT crew. We had 16 members and 2 guest come out to play. Thanks Christian and Isiah for not just coming out but showing the rest how you catch bass.
Since this was a a real tournament and only a few pics were taken on the water, I'll get to the point and the NorthEast River, MD tale of the tape.
There were a total of 32 bass caught weighing a total of 100.86lbs. 6 members caught there limit of 3 Bass. 16 out of 18 anglers at least 1 bass. Lunker Fish was noted and won one by Jimbo with a weight of 5.55lbs.

Thursday was a great day to be out of the office. We ran into some TBF buddies, got to witness a kid being a kid and doing his Happy Dance on the back of dads boat, and the early great weather and air temps was phenomenal! 16 out of 18 anglers caught at least one Bass. There were 5 limits brought to the scales. There were 32 bass weighed in yielding a total of 100.86lbs of Bass. That gave way to a 3.15lbs per bass avg. Way to go SJHT!!!
Some anglers reported having an early morning bite while others like Jimbo didn't catch there keeper till about 1pm in the afternoon. Once the Normandy invasion subsided with the stronger winds in the PM, anglers ventured to other potential Hot Spots. Only to find that most of the bass were not home. I even ran down to the Big Bohemia with no hits to show for it. The ride heading south was very calm without a trace of wind. The return trip back North brought on 2'-3' waves that saw my rider eye's almost bulge out!! LOL!! Good stuff White Mike!!
I could go on and on but I'll let the members and guest interject.
Thanks again to all especially our guest for joining SJHT this past Thursday.
Next Up: Union Lake Club event relaunching our 2013 NJ Bass Open Season Sun. June 23, 2013.
Tightlines,

Fun Thursday! I vote to do it again next year. I thought we were going to avoid getting smoked by the Fu-Man cause of work though?
Congrats Jackson, simply put, you are the man. Keep tearing it up man.
Shout out to the youngsters for smoking the old men as well.
Not able to go far with out my motor (failed attempt to fix), I stayed in the 3 first cuts and then worked my way to that first marina you hit on the left. That was a long troll. I had my first 2 by 7am in the first cut and the third by 830 in between the first and second cut. One 13 incher after that and that was all she wrote. Felt good to FINALLY catch a fish for 2013. Prior to yesterday I had one keeper all year!! Yes, one 12 incher all year.
See you guys in 36 days, 21 hours 54 minutes and 30 seconds.

When I pulled up to the parking lot and saw all those trailers, I thought I slept an extra day and woke up on Saturday!!!LOL. Did not expect that! I fished a couple of community holes with nothing to show. Thought of going into the cuts but decided not to and fished the outside of them. Then decided to run to Furnace Bay and turned the corner and saw what looked to be a boat sale! I never saw that many boats congregated in one area! Unbelievable, but everyone kept a reasonable distance and did there thing. I saw Christan catch his monster and do his awesome dance!! That was great!! Way to go!!! and congrats on 2nd Pl. A big congrats to Jackson on his big bag!!!! It's always exciting at weight in time when Jackson comes to the scales, everyone is gathered around to see what comes out of his bag!!! Nice!! Also congrats to Joe on taking 3rd place with a real nice bag also. Nice going Rob, I know you felt good having those three in you well!!! congrats to all the fish catchers, and yes we will definitely have to do it again next year!!! Without the TBF!!!!!

Rob,
I definitely know the feeling to get the skunk off of the 2013 season.
16 Members and 2 Guest coming out to play...In my book, that's fanstatic. Even if we only had 8-10 anglers come out, it still would have a success. Way to schedule and plan accordingly gents and young bucks!
About 2 weeks ago someone up on Bassnj had stated that Bass Nation was also going to be there. I had no idea it was the TBF trail version of the NJ Bass Nation because I knew the NJ version was not going to be there. Imagine trying to fish this Sat. or Sunday. Like last year, Anchor Marine has the Marine Wounded Warrior going out on Sat. The ABA Trail on Sunday. Not too mention the other 3-4 South Jersey Fishing clubs launching from that same area.
I think all things considered, we were pretty much done our weigh-in before the North Jersey TBF Trail had retrieved there boats from the water. Thanks to White Mike, Jiggen Den, and those who assisted in the launching and retrieving of boats and tow vehicles.
I'm not sure how those TBF guys faired but as Jiggen Den stated, upon nearing the Furnance Bay Strip mall where one could swear free burgers were being given out, I know they were in amazement by Christians fishing skills. Well...I at least was!!! From myvantage point, the kid was putting on a clinic while dad netted his fish.
I know others wish they could have come out to this event but for whatever circumstances, I know they take great pleasure in seeing how everyone overall faired on there day on the water. The NorthEast River, MD can be good to great but dependent on how those winds blow in and that was evident later in the AM towards the PM, that it could get a bit scary at times.
Running all the way down to the Bohemia almost on a glass like calm surface was pretty cool and a nice smooth ride. Coming back up towards the NorthEast proved one had to take it slow and be cognizant of the taking each wave 1,2, or 3 at at time. That ride back I know could have been much worse but we made it back safely with no damage.
As we're now back into the offiial 2013 SJHT NJ Bass closed season, I encourage anglers still to get out and hone in on those areas still needing perfecting. If you have a go to bait or confidence lure, maybe try switching up to a new technique or something outside of your comfort zone. Many times we get use to throwing the Rattletrap, spinnerbaits, or even jigs. Sometimes by switching or simply modifying a presentation will those bass give us feedback in the form of small taps or a fierce strike. I pointed some of these findings out to White Mike as the bass were hittng almost right up next to the boat under the suspended grass beds and patches.
Side Note: Those SJHT anglers fishing the NJ Bass Nation 2013 Trail, we must decide if we have a 6-Man team to fish Lake Champlain in the latter part of Sept. 26-27th. There is a $600.00 per team fee which equates to $100 per person. A decision needs to be made by the 1st meeting on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013. A team down payment was being accepted at the May meeting but those clubs unsure of there intentions were given notice and additional time to get the Team tournament fees in.
Alright... I'll stop here. LOL!!

Congrats to everyone who could make it out. I wasnt supposed to make this one, but I ended up getting someone to cover for me. I caught all my larger fish early, before 8. After that, the tide hit dead low and the bite died off. As the rest of the day went on, I explored the grass beds and coves and only caught a few more shorts and a couple possible keepers, but didnt bother measuring.
Congrats to Christian, thats a heck of a bag. Tell your Dad to buy you your own boat. |

Congrats to everyone who caught fish and limits. early in the day i swung a short fish into the boat then missed most likely about a 3lber who ddint hook up on a swimbait i was slowly retrieving through the grass, which was followed by another bass who followed it up to the boat but didn't hit. I wasn't suprised about how many boats we saw out there as it was pretty expected. It was a great excperience to go down there and thanks rashawn for an awesome time.
Jackson you really are a freak lol
