Day 1
Place: Parvin State Park, Pittsgrove, NJ
Time: 6:30am-2:30pm
Date: Saturday, September 21, 2013
Weather: Very Foggy and Overcast chilly 58 Degree morning start warming up to 80 Degrees
Water Temps: 66.3 Degrees at start and rising to 69.5. 63 Degrees up the creek.
Water Clarity: Less than 1.5'
Water current and Level: Seemed a bit down form what I'm use to since the damn was fixed and lowered. Mild breeze later in the AM made for nice ripple down the center of the lake. Major Black Scum and alga bloom on surface made lure selection key
Best Lure: Finesse worms, crank baits, and the occasional Rattle Trp
Depths fished: 2.0'~ 5.5'
Bass Limit: 3
----------------------------------------------
This past Saturday and Sunday, Sept 21-22, 2013, South Jersey Hook this concluded there 2013 Bass Fishing Club season by holding there annual 2 Day Bass Classic Championship tournament at Parvin SP and Stone Tavern. Not having personally fished Parvin since the dam was repaired and the lowering of the water level, for me, it was quite different from what I remembered. Instead of deep pockets or spots that had produced in years past, many anglers struggled to get that elusive 15" keeper bass. Between the early fog rolling in and then rolling out and then rolling back in again mixed with a rainbow and clearing skys, we thought we were fishing in the Twilight Zone!!! (Key music here)
This gave way to a wonderful Blue-bird sky day with temps rising quickly to about 80 degrees.
Okay..onto Day 1 of SJHT Classic:
We had 18 out of 22anglers that qualified for this classic come out and fish. There were NO (3) Bass Limits caught. There were a total of 9 Bass brought to the scales. Day 1 total weight gave up 23.54lbs with Lunker going 3.11lbs.
2011 & 2012 Classic Champion Jackson "Silent Assassin" F. led Day 1 with 2 Bass going 5.74lbs. He was followed by 1/2 of the 2013 Tag Team Champion of Cooper River Park Dan "Crappie Jon" Fitzpatrick . with 2 Bass weighing 5.45lbs
Jackson's 2 Bass going 5.74lbs:

Parvin's Algae Bloom\Scum of death:
Talk about catching dink after dink under 15"s, anglers spoke about the tough bite, the thick black scum out in the middle and the grass that has taken over Parvin SP. The clunks of dying grass was almost impenatrable Anglers reported catching bass on the outer edges of the grass\black scum line while some caught them up in the pads. Whether one was fishing in the shallows or somewhat off the concrete spillway\banks, there was action to be had. Anglers had to find those vacant pockets within the scum trail and areas where there was somewhat of a significant drop off to deeper water.
With half of the field scattering all about upon launch in the thick to cut Fog, anglers were busy at work fishing twiggs and stumps just above the water line....
Other anglers focusing on open water....
So in a nutshell, 6 out of 18 anglers brought at least 1 bass to the scales.

Day 2: Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013
Finale Day 2
Place: STONE TAVERN, Clarksburg, NJ
Time: 6:30am-2:30pm
Date: Sunday, September 22, 2013
Weather: Damp, sky clearing after the torrential night before down pour of rain. Comfy 58 Degrees Slight breeze 5-10mph early on warming up to sunny 72 Degrees.
Water Temps: 66~70 Degrees at start
Water Clarity: Down to 2.5'~3.0'
Water current and Level: Not sure of the normal water level as there was a down pour earlier in the night\morning. Water appeared a bit normal.
Best Lure: Finesse worms; Dropshot; Crankbaits
Depths fished: 1.0'~ 15.5'
Bass Limit: 3
-----------------------------------------------------
After a long and tough 1st day, many angler knew the challenge of overcoming a 5 plus lb. weight advantage would be very difficult especially at the Tavern. With Jackson, Dan, and Moe within striking distance, 14 out of the original 18 participants came back out for more punishment to upset the 2 Time Classic Champ and this years 2013 AOY Silent Assasin Action Jackson.
If one thought Parvin was somewhat choke with grass, they have not been to Stone Tavern in quite a while... Although it was somewhat of the healthy variety, it still made penetrating and getting ones bait in front of the bass that much tougher.
With this years version of the 2013 Classic Belt up for grabs, Winner take all and Lunker Pots on the line, anglers including myself were swinging for the fences and all types of chit were caught.... LOL!!!
Nice size Crappie caught cranking a deep diving Live Target bait
Alright....back onto Day 2:
With Jackson leading after Day 1 and Dan and Moe following closely behind, the Belt was still up for anyone. That is..if a good 3 or 4lber happen to be swimming by. LOL
Day 2. The Tavern was even more brutal on Sunday that only 6 out of the returning 14 anglers brought at least something to the scales.
In the 24hrs we had previously fished, the conditions had changed greatly. We recieved a down pour of rain, preceded by a cold front to drop the air temperatures greatly. The water color although somewhat clear from all of the rain, just seemed a tad off.
The wind was stronger and the air temps were lower. The the water temps were pretty much identical.
Alright....back to the conclusion....... Similar to our 2012 SJHT Classic, Jackson held a .29lb advantage over Dan. Jackson like his 2011 & 2012 SJHT Classic Championship Defense (Ala Floyd Mayweather Jr.) found himself in yet another dog fight to seal the deal. Knowing that Dan (Reigning All Time SJHT Iron-man Champion and 2nd most Total Bass weight in 2013 would not give up easily, Jackson already had 1 keeper in the livewell with less than 10 minutes remaining in the Tournament looked at everyone on the water and preceded to catch another 2 Bass to seal his 3 Time- Back to Back to Back Defense of the SJHT Bass Classic Championship.
Dan was only able to muster up another 1 Bass going .70lbs. Jay *SmellyHooker* N. caught 2 Bass . One of Jackson's Bass went 1.60lbs to take Lunker for Day 2. Can you say Cha-Ching... Ching!!!
On Day 2, there were only 11 Bass caught. Only 2 (3 Bass) limits were caught. Total weight was 11.51lbs. Just like Saturday, 6 out of 14 anglers caught at least 1 Bass. Can you say fricking tough fishing?

---------------------------------------- Summary: In what has been one of our best overal seasons with both new and old members, I believe I can say SJHT anglers truly were honored to come out and battle over the course of our 16 Tournament season. I'm truly honored and fortunate to have a great group of men who get along, communicate amongst one another, share tips and techniques in the meaning of bettering the club, and last but not least enjoy the sport of Bass Fishing for what it is. At the end of the day, it's nice to win and take home a $$$ prize and\or some hardware, but one can never take away the commaradie we share on and off the water, along with the memories that will last a life time.
In typical format, I would present each of the individual awards broken down by category, but since Jackson pretty much performed a Hat Trick and took everyones money, i'm just gonna show you the hardware he took home in 2013.... LOL!!!

Thanks Jiggen Den!!! Nothing like have most if not all of the tournaments run very smoothly in my absence. Jay and John do a fine job and I'm happy to call all here a friend.
It would have been interesting to see if Jimbo fished a more complete schedule...what would have happen...
Probably would have still got his arse kicked like the rest of us!!! ROFLMAO!!!!
For those who finished in the Top 6- Don't worry BigNasty got something up his sleeves coming down the pipe. Don't hold me to it... as it's still in prototype development.
Notice the new SJHT Online Store Link on the Home Page. In the coming days\week, it will be populated with Hook This! apparel. (i.e. Jackets, Hats, Hoodies, T-shirts, and working on Tournament Jersey's)
Note: Jay...remember I couldn't think of something I was forgetting on Sunday, well I finally remembered. I'll see all of the 2013 Classic participants and present individually if need be at our 2014 pre-planning Lake schedule meeting (Date TBD)

and for those that inquired about fishing the Squan for a Classic or any other times in the Fall, this here is a video clip from this pass Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 of Barrington Rod & Reel Bass Club fishing this place...
Thanks again guys. I had a career year and there's no way I can duplicate it. Im ready for retirement.
To BN and all the club officials, you guys make this club what it is and the envy of all the other SJBCA clubs. I am honored to be apart of such a unbelievably well run organization. Thank you for the jacket BN and I will proudly wear it to any event I fish and I mean any lol. Bonus pic of the hardware:
Also, we have much better anglers than those guys at Squan, we would have brought in some limits.
You and the rest of the members deserved it. Thanks for sharing your trophy case pic. Looks like you may need to buy a new one due to lack of space. Lol! Im gonna start calling you Floyd Mayweather Jr. The undisputed, pound for pound, 3 Time Classic Champ, and reigning 2013 SJHT AOY CHAMPION!
Whats next? You gonna have Rapper Little Wayne rhyming as you make your way to the ring/body of water? Lol!
Hope you, Dan, and Janeen gets some good use out of the jackets. Did I mention they're also good in repelling rain.
Word on street is you're planning on taking the 2014 season off. Lol!
Wow BN nice report with some great pics to go along.
Just like everyone else said you make this club what it is, and thanks for giving me the opportunity to fish this year even though I decided somewhat last minute. I't felt good to be back.
The awards look great as always and them hats look really cool as well..fantastic job.
@Jackson - you truly are a south jersey hero, its always exciting to see whats about to come out of your bag at the weigh-in, and like BN said your most likely going to need a bigger trophy case soon lol..well done
Looking forward to seeing you all next year at the annual meeting!
Me and mike white sr will be going on a fishing trip soon up to north jersey around some of the bigger water...ill report back here with the results!
Thank you Rashawn for all you do to make this the best damn club in all of New Jersey...
Thank you Jackson for raising the bar each and every week! This season was one for the record books... You put your stamp on this club with dominance! I don't know what BN was smoking, but even with a full season of fishing I wasn't going to get within 30 points of you. You're the Man Jackson!
Rob, Dan, and Bill really made the competition for "first Loser" exciting! I don't care if you don't get a big trophy, or even any trophy its a great accomplishment to get second in this club... My hats off to you guys for comimg out and throwing it down each week!
I'm proud to fish with each and everyone of you guys and gals... Thank you all! Jimbo
