The morning started with a few at the ramp bulls---. waiting for a bit more daylight. The weather was a bit chilly which was expected along with some wind according to the forecast, but not 20-MPH or more! which started about 9-00ish? Not one pickup, bite or what ever you want to call it! Even the scullers got off the lake in a matter of minutes when the wind picked up!Lots of anglers pulled out almost 2 hrs before tourn. ended. I agree with Joe that this winter put a hurtin on these bass and they are still in there winter mode, until the water temps start to get up in mid 50's or better fish catching will improve I hope??? Like BN would say without further adeu, we had 16 members come out to brave the elements, and one and only one bass was caught and a real nice chunk, by Bob Vansciver that weighted in at 4.62 lbs!!! Bob said he caught the fish about 12:10 and had to book on back to the ramp which he made on time. Good thing he had the wind to his back to help him along!A big congrats Bob on a nice fish and paycheck! The only other fish caught was a pickerel caught by Big Al, who had to get towed in by our weightmaster Jay. Hope to make Parvin next week, but we'll see.
First off, I want to Thank and acknowledge Jiggen Den- for running such a smooth Tournament. Thanks Buddy and great write-up. Jay- for helping out in the AM. Rob for being there from beginning to the end.
Second, What a tough few weeks we've had to start off our 2014 season! Man...can anyone catch more than 1 bass and also have other anglers at least get bit?
From the brief reports and updates I received, Mercer Lake conditions turned into something like we've experienced on Manasquan Res. or down at the Flats. All I can say like Jiggen Den, is that it has got to get better.
Sometimes I measure the fishability of certain bodies of water by how other "Clubs" are doing that same weekend. By all indications, we were not alone in barely getting a bite. There were so many other bodies of water "Not Producing" that I can't even list them here.
Joe R...... Thanks for providing a rider spot our new Rookie member Johnny P. If there are other members, who would like to extend a spot to our new member, please don't wait for me. Simply give a call, talk in person, or shoot a PM to him directly. Thank you in advance.
I should be back for our Next Parvin SP Lake tournament but going forward my schedule will be changing quite a bit. More to come later.
Thanks again for all who came out to battle and endure those conditions. I tell ya, these last 3 weeks should have worked out any kinks one may have with there vessels. Especially with battery life, trolling motor strength, bilge pump functionality, and other miscellaneous events.
