-----------------------------------------------------
With old man winter finally giving us a break and our winter doldrums I believe pretty much over, 18 of the SJHT finest game out to get some at badlands known as Parvin SP! for the 5th Club Tournament of the season.
Knowing how tough the fishing has been for the previous month, anglers were determined to finally get on a fish catching streak that use to be the norm. With the absence of Jackson, Dan, and Bob S., anglers were licking there chops with the "Keep Hope Alive" stick. LOL!
Without further adieu, lets give a big shout-out to all who came out and tested there skill levels in our 5th tournament of the season. After an 8yr streak of not finishing in the money category, John "Who's yo Daddy to son Jay" took 1st place and Lunker, John "I beat Jay" N. caught 2 Bass going 7.36lbs and Lunker going 4.10lbs.
Not to be outdone by his dad, Jay "SmellyHooker" N. aka "the El Captain' " took home 2nd place with 2 Bass going 4.67lbs and a lunker of 3.12lbs.
Third place was won by 2nd yr member Joe R. with 1 Bass going a respectable 2.72lbs. Congrats men!!! Way to put somewhat a pattern together and keep applying the pressure.
John " I beat my son Jay" N. 1st place and Lunker:
Jay "Smelly Hooker" N. 2nd Place:
Joe R. with his 3rd Place finish:
Here's the Official Parvin Lake Tale of the Tape:
Other notable anglers:
Andy "Trapper" 1.63lber:
Not pictured Wayne "Moe" Sr.:
1 Bass 2.45lbs
So as one can see, only 7 Bass were caught overall giving a total weight of 18.83lbs. Anglers reported catching bass in the 13"~14.75" range but very elusive to bring home the 15" minimum. For those like myself that did have some very suttle bites, it almost seem like you had to hit the bass on there foreheads and wait patiently to pick up your lure. Most of my small bites came on finesse, slow retrieve, soft plastic type lures. Jerkbaits and rattle traps produced nothing but I believe the Trap bite will begin to heat up as the spawning start. That's pretty much it.
Bill "The Hammer" L. receiving his SJBCA Angler Excellence Award:
Note: Happy Easter to all. Enjoy the weekend with your family. Regroup, relax, and revisit previously proved tactics.
See you all in 2 weeks for our 6th Club Tournament at Lums Pond.
