-----------------------------------------------------

Now that the NJ Bass Fishing season is officially closed (due to spawning) for keeping Bass in livewells and weighing at tournaments, SJHT ventured south of the mason dixon line to to visit the always scenic confines of Lums Pond, DE.

Lets get to it. Today, SJHT had 12 anglers come out to play. 10 out of the 12 anglers were able to bring at least 1 Bass to the scales. We had 3 Limits weighed in. There were a total of 18 Bass weighed in giving way to 39.88lbs. That gave an avg. bass weight of 2.22lbs.

Without further adieu, lets give a big shout-out to all who came out and got some at Lums Pond in our 6th tournament of the season.

Taking Fu's advice to upgrade to the Minn Kota 112lb Thrust trolling motor, a big congrats goes out to SJHT infamous ironman Rob *Ram1212* M. on taking 1st place with 3 Bass going a total of 8.43lbs. Rob's lunker went a nice 4.25lbs. Having put his time on the water at multiple SJ spots leading up to our Lums Pond Tournament, (I know because he kept texting pics of his bigguns all week), give a big shoutout to White Mike who took 2nd place with 3 Bass weighing 6.93lbs. Mike's Lunker went 2.79lbs. Third Place was won Jay *SmellyHooker* N. with 3 Bass going 5.54lbs.

The Lunker Pot was won by long timer SJ Hook One and Garden State Bassmasters member Al "The Joker" C. going 4.88lbs. Way to spread the wealth gents and have an interesting day down at Lums Pond.

1st Place Rob's 8.43lb Bag:

Jay *SmellyHooker* N. with his 3rd Place finish:

Al's 4.88lb Lunker winner:

Here's the Official Lums Pond Tale of the Tape:

Other notable anglers:

Jiggen Den's 5.31lbs:

Judging by the Tale of the Tape, it looks as though most were catching Bass, but maybe not the right size. Catching that elusive 3rd or kicker Bass seemed to be the issue for most SJHT anglers. Can't wait to hear actually how everybody's day went. Any water temps, water clarity, air temps, Depths fished, or anything perculiar noted while fishing?

Do tell!!!!

Next up is the Sassafras River for our 7th Club Tournament of the season.

Tightlines,

LOL!!!! Sorry about that Den!!! I was looking at the pics and said they looked bigger than what was interpreted. I've fixed and Scooter will reflect it later this evening when he runs the Sorted Standings. Total points now should be 13.31lbs.

Way to get on the board and congrats again!!!

Well I'll be damn!!!! Leave it to the joker to create a 2 way tie for top Lunker Spot with Dan's 4.88lber caught at Union Lake. Shock

I guess I'll have to squeeze his name in the rolling Highlight area. LOL!!!!

Congrats once again Al!

Note: If it looks funny.....blame Al for tying the 2014 Lunker Mark.

I have a feeling in the next 2 weeks, it will be broken. You heard it here first!!!

I had a fun day out there! Not repeating my mistakes of last year (area wise) I was able to boat 3 decent fish. I ran into a bit of trouble around 10-10:30 when my trolling motor cable ripped off. Knowing that if my TM got stuck, i was stuck for good because i couldnt pull it up, I was forced to fish a little deeper than i wouldv'e liked. Luckily for me by that time I had my limit. It felt good to have those fish, but I didn't feel "safe" at all judging by last years weight. And I wasnt. Rob wound up taking first to close the win. Nice job Rob by the way.

Note: When me Kyle and Dennis were releasing our fish I noticed a clipped off zip tie around my biggest fishes mouth. I hadn't noticed it prior to catching the fish or putting it in the scale bag for that matter because it was a clear/white hue. Looks like someone may have been cheating in a prior tournament, or maybe someone used the zip tie as a culling method? Not sure, but the fish also had a pretty bad rash on its back, and as kyle pointed out it may be because the fish was beating himself up trying to get off the "leash". NO

congrats to all, sounds like a tough day.

Thanks guys. Congrats to the other fish catchers and especially White Mike for his over due money finish. Nice bag Mike!

I had my first dink fish & 3lber by 7am'ish. Then not another bite until 12pm where i got the 12 incher and then at 1:15 BAM, I got my lunker. Quite a feeling to get a fish that big that late. First time for me. They all came in less than a foot of water on wood and the last one in front of some reeds.

The zip tie is quite sad. Someone should zip tie that person to whatever that fish was zip tied to and let them figure it out also.

Lums. Yack. I did everything. Not a bite all day. I still don't know why lol How do people deal with not getting bit all day? Ugh. see everyone as the sassafras

Jon, I know the feeling very well. This years fishing is going to be as unpredictable as the weather has been, and that being said I do believe that this winter put a hurtin in these bass everywhere. How they should be hitting now, the pre-spawn, staging areas, are all a bit behind schedule. We are getting some nice days, but not enough consecutive days to really warm the lakes/ponds. The night temps seem to be low for this time of the year and the waters cool a bit, and then we get rain to cool it more and then one nice day and it starts all over again. Just my opinion.

Congrats Rob, Mike, Al, and all who got bit. It was a very tough day. I covered some very good areas pretty thoroughly with nothing to show. Than I went back later and did it again for same results. One of the toughest things to do is go back to a lake where you have done well with one pattern that you have confidence in and when its not working out, trying to adjust away from it.

At least this years standings are close. Sass could produce a 20+ point swing. Just saying. yum Ill be thinking about it from work. damit
