-----------------------------------------------------
Lets..see. The snakeheads were biting good. The dinks were being caught left and right. The parking lot was full. However that elusive 3 Bass SJHT limit could not be found.

With the weather conditions pretty much ideal outside of being baked a little bit towards the end of the day, anglers still kept swinging for the fences.
13 Anglers came out to do battle.
There were no Limits brought to the scales today. 10 out of 13 anglers weighed at least 1 Bass. There were a total of 14 Bass weighed in totalling 21.39lbs. That gave way to avg. bass weight of 1.53lbs.
Without further adieu, please give a big shout-out to Dennis "Jiggen Den" T. for catching 2 bass going 4.21lbs[/b]. Second place was won by Wayne *Moe* N. with 2 Bass going 3.87lbs. Moe's Lunker went 2.87lbs. Third place was taken by Joe R. with 2 Bass going 2.86lbs.
Way to figure them out men on another tough day.

and last but not least..... Give a big shout-out to "Always in Shape" Janeen L. for reaching a SJHT mile-stone. She caught her first keeper and I believe overall Bass in 3 years being in the club. Great intestinal fortitude young lady to hang in there!!! Congrats!!!

So in summary, Stewart Lake proved to be tough as nails. Anglers had bites throughout the day, but getting pass the dink-fest was somewhat trying. My bite and only keeper came at 6:24am on a green pumpkin red flake smallie beaver. My other taps came on a drop-shot with nothing really measurable. Other anglers reported suddle pick-ups on jigs, traps, and finesse type stuff. Once the bright sunlight rose above, the bass seem to really scatter as many earlier bites came out in the wide open middle. The snakehead that was caught was in the 4+lb category. There was actually 2 caught with 1 actually meeting its maker. Sorry no pics but it resembled the one I caught last year at this same location. It may have been a tad bigger though. That's pretty much all I have. Kayakers, canoers, and other pleasure boats were also out on the water. There was 2 teens who ran into some trolling motor issues with a sheared pin. I attempted to assist by giving them an extra one of mine. Hope it worked out as watching them paddle got me tired watching. :-)
Congrats again to Jiggen Den, Moe, and Joe R. in sticking to your game plans.
See you all in 2 weeks for our next Club Tournament at Manasquan Res. .
Tightlines,

Congrats Den and Wayne. All I can say it was a tough day of fishing. I was lucky enough to pick up my second keeper at about 12:40. |
