Time: 9:00am-3:00pm
Weather: Early morning frigid 32 Degree start with intermittent sunshine.. Warmed up to 52 degrees. Later in morning brought more cloud cover and spotty sunshine.
Water Temps: At start 41.8 degrees warming up towards 44 degrees later in the day past the sportsmens club.
Water Clarity: Moderately clear Down to 1.5''
Wind Gust: 5-10mph. Almost a non-factor
Best Lure: N/A; Again a Non-factor
fished: 2.5'~4.0'
Bass Limit: 3

as SJHT kicked off there start of spring snow delayed opener. Yes... this is what it looked like less than 24hrs. ago.
but after some dialogue\collaboration amongst the members, we decided to delay the start by 2hours to allow for the warmth of the sun to heat up the roadways and avoid that black ice.
Alright...onto our day on the water.
After filling the SS Nasty with some jet fuel, a stop at WaWa for a sando, and some coffee, I quickly got pass the strange stairs from onlookers as I guess they thought it was a joke to go fishing after the winter snow storm the day before. Upon arriving at the ramp, there was a good 10~11 members already there and eager to go. Too bad someone didn't tell the Bass.
Today SJHT had another terrific turnout with 16 anglers coming out to catch limits and possibly slobs but that was not the case. Between the cold water temps, muddy water, and slight current, this made for a tough day.
Without further adieu and another, please give a big congrats to SJHT angler Brian *Bass-Hopper* S.. for taking 1st place and Lunker with 1 Bass going 1.53lbs. Kerry *Big856K* took 2nd place with 1 Bass going 1.51lbs. [b]Third place was won by NOBODY

Just to show how brutal things were, I did some Turtle Man recon on Action Jackson....

There were 0 Limit brought to the scales.. 2 out of 16 anglers weighed at least 1 Bass. There were a total of 2 Bass weighed in totalling a whopping 3.04 lbs. That gave way to avg. bass weight of 1.52lbs.
That was pretty much our day. Salem Canal for most part gave up nothing but the occasional crapp ie and foul hooked shad. Most members, including myself got NO Bites at all.
You know its close when anglers surround the scale to see 2 fish separated by .02 of an oz.
So in summary, Bass-Hoppers starts off the new 2015 SJHT season with a tough hard fought win. One of the Serduk brothers always seems to take 1st or 2nd place at the first Tournaments of the season and then vanishes for the rest of the season.. LOL!!! JK.
I would like to Thank all members that brave the elements and mother natures curve-ball with messing with the wrong bass fishing club....but then again, I believe in the end, The Canal pimped slapped us back into reality and in the process said, "Who's Yo Daddy!!"
Great seeing our 2014 AOY and Classic Champion back in the fold for 2015. Subfish.... I know it's been a hard last 4 months with losing moms and your wifey, but remember, you're surrounded by friends and family.

Did anyone catch and see what Kerry caught his bass on? The bite was so bad, he broke out the 3' crappie rod, with crappie lure and caugh that bass.
Note: He even has braid on that setup! No BS!
Some funny shit right there....
Who does that?....lol
