2017 State of Tidal Largemouth Bass Fisheries (Maryland)
BigNasty06
Guys,
Attached here you find the latest Maryland DNR briefing slides presented by Joe Love and Steve Weimar regarding steps to help improve the Upper Chesapeake and Potomac Fisheries.

The Live Webinar was pretty interesting and the steps being taking to coordinate with the various Marinas seem to be going forward. Anchor Marina is well ahead of the game and the results from last year lack of mortality from Mid to Large Fishing Tournaments were pretty remarkable.

Unlike previous years, they did not report any fish killed due to the heat, lack of oxygen, or careless handling of the Bass. Kudos to everyone for playing there part.

Below you will find the Downloadable .PDF

I didn't read through the whole slide show, but saw this on another site. No cull tags that puncture the fish

Maryland has banned any culling clips that puncture a hole in the fish. You can no longer use the stringer style clips to pierce a hole in the bass.

Those fish shocked and floating looked brutal, lol. Can't believe they just swim off after that.

Thanks for sharing BN, good stuff. I don't use cull tags so won't be a big deal for me.

I think an important thing to remember and it's been sticking in my mind since this webinar is that when transporting your bag of Bass from your boat to the weigh station, we really should be using a mesh bag which should sit in another bag of water in walking up to the Oxygenated Tanks. (i.e. Anchor Marine) and for that matter any other tournaments which we're capable of setting up this type of system.

Troop..thanks for reiterating the facts that cull tags are not to pierced through the mouths of really any bass. We all should have a culling system in place where its not only reliable but also protects the bass from any additional stress.

I will be posting a link for those interested in what the Maryland DNR has recommended as a culling system. There are others out there but if someone wanted to research any reviews or where to purchase, I know TackleWarehouse is a good source.

I got tags from Berkley that have a spring clip and they have been pretty good. I just bought 2 of these for culling http://www.tackle...-DMCB.html
